Q: Are there any Setup Fees ?

A: Subscribing to our service and the activation of your account is free. Fees may apply for services like DID's and phone network usage.

  Q. Has the sound quality improved?

A. The quality of VoIP voice has dramatically improved over the past few years, reaching the quality level of a landline phone and sometimes even exceeding that level. However, voice clarity may differ from provider to provider and will also depend upon the speed and quality of your broadband connection. Before signing up, you may wish to consult other VoIP users by visiting either our forums or the user reviews for each specific provider.

  Q. Can I keep my number?

A. We allow number portability so you can use the same number which is given by your traditional phone provider.
When you purchase Talk2's Business VoIP, please indicate that you wish to keep your numbers. It can take 2 to 6 weeks for your numbers to be released by your current phone company.

  Q. Can I get a number of an area code other than mine?

A. Yes, Talk2 VoIP will permit you to select an area code different from the area in which you live. This means, if you live in Austin and get a New York number, you will NOT incur long-distance charges while calling a New York number regardless of geography. It also means that your "local" calls, in Austin , will be charged long distance and that your friends in Austin will incur long-distance charges calling your New York Number.
Additionally, most providers offer virtual numbers (sometimes known as “extra numbers”). With this feature you may obtain a number from a different area code in addition to your current area code. This would enable you to have relatives living in another area code dial a local number to reach you, saving them the cost of long-distance charges.

  Q. Do you have rollover numbers or ring groups?

A. Yes. There is no limit to the number of inbound calls your account can support. Calls can be forwarded to a group of users. After ringing those users, calls can either stay on hold until someone is available or be routed to voicemail. Talk2 can incorporate both desktops and mobile phones into ring groups to provide maximum flexibility for managing inbound calls.

  Q. How do I get started with Talk2’s Business VoIP?

A. It's easy to get started! Just contact a Talk2 VoIP Specialist for a Business Needs Consultation. They will help you:

Evaluate cost savings and productivity-increasing features
Review your network configuration and current needs
Recommend any needed system changes or enhancements

  Q. How many phone lines do I get?

A. There is no limit on the number of inbound or outbound calls your system can receive. Your inbound callers will never get a busy signal. However, the number of calls a single user can be on at any one time depends on the phone. If the call can't be answered, it is forwarded to voicemail.

Q: What are the applicable charges with an On Demand Calling plan?

A: Once your «Easy On Demand» account is active, you will be able to make and receive calls which will be billed per minute based on the rates from the following page.

Your call history is viewable at any time from the corresponding section of your control panel.

In order to be able to receive calls, you will need to add a phone number (DID) to your account. Each added DID costs a fixed monthly fee not subject to prorated billing.

You can verify DID availability here or through the "DID Numbers" section of your control panel.

Q: Can my prepaid account expire?

A: If you have no volume commitment with us, you've made an initial deposit, your account is activated and your balance is not in the negative, your account will stay active and is not subject to expiration.

  Q. What support services are available?

A. Many of our customers choose Talk2 because they don't have the resources in-house to manage a sophisticated phone system. That's why we designed our web-based application to be self-service. You can manage your account online without having to call or request technical assistance. If you do need help, our technical support staff is available to review your local area network and provide consulting or advisory services. In addition, we offer a knowledge base with answers to common questions.

Q: Does Talk2 provide residential services?

A: Yes we can, but our focus is mainly business services.

Q. Do I need to be a computer expert?

A. For phone-based services you do not need to be computer savvy. Even computer-based services are not too difficult to set-up.

Q. Can I use my computer during a call and does it have to be turned on all day?

A. You can use the computer; a router may be required. Your computer need not be turned on if you are making calls with a phone and adapter or a special VoIP phone, but your broadband Internet connection must to be active. As an added note, you can use your computer and surf the internet while talking on the phone without greatly affecting voice quality.

  Q. Will my existing phone service be interrupted during Talk2 installation?

A. No. Talk2 uses your existing broadband service, so installation does not affect your current phone service. If you are ordering a completely new number, there will be no impact on your current service. If you are keeping your old number, we will work with you to minimize any impact.

  Q. How do I get started?

You first need to determine which plans are available in your area and then select one you like best. You can start a search for plans from our homepage or by clicking the link VoIP Plans. If you need any assistance please contact us.
